Mizzou athletic director shares financial update

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou athletic director Jim Sterk met with reporters on Tuesday night. You can watch the full news conference in the video player above.

Sterk said Mizzou athletics operated at an $8.9 million deficit for the 2019 fiscal year which was July 2019 to June 2020. He attributed the loss to COVID-19's impact on collegiate sports - including the cancellation of the 2020 NCAA Tournament.

He added MU is still currently down 45 positions in the athletic department, but they are currently trying to add some of those back.

On a positive note - Sterk said 85% of donors maintained their yearly gift amounts.
