Mizzou trio leads Hickman girls basketball program

COLUMBIA, Mo (KMIZ)

Three familiar faces made the short jump down Providence Road to Hickman High School, where they brought their Mizzou knowledge to a whole new program.

The Kewpies named former MU women's basketball standout Morgan Eye Scott as head coach over the summer. Since then, Scott added Jordan Roundtree and Michael Porter Sr. to her staff.

In her first year with the program, Scott said she noticed just how much she picked up from her former Mizzou coach Robin Pingeton.

“I actually just texted my coach the other day, Robin Pingeton, and just let her know that I sound like you almost every day," she said.

Scott added that her priority for this year was getting her girls invested in each other and invested in laying good foundation.

“They want to pay it forward, they want to invest into these kids and make a positive difference on the court and off the court," Pingeton said about Scott and Roundtree.

Although there may be differences in interest levels, speed, and even the logo on their chests, Scott said the priority, for her, has remained the same: family.

“When you know that you’re playing for something bigger than yourself, you’re going to go harder," she said. "That's what we're trying to build here."
