Mizzou just misses out on the upset over No. 15 Kentucky

COLUMBIA, Mo (KMIZ)

The Mizzou women's basketball team missed out on its first-ever win in Lexington, Kentucky in just a six point loss on Sunday.

After a stagnant first half, with just 18 points, Mizzou came out firing after the break, shooting about 50 percent from the field.

Robin Pingeton's group trailed by 10 coming into the second half, however, a 9-0 run late in the fourth quarter brought them a lead.

With under two minutes remaining, the Tigers kept within striking distance of the Wildcats, with just one point separating the two, however, they could not get it done in the end.

Kentucky took it 61-55 and Mizzou remains winless in Lexington.

Ladazhia Williams, once again, led the team with 23 points along with six rebounds. Her teammate Aijha Blackwell finished with another double-double, with 13 points and 19 rebounds.

Up next - the Tigers come back to Columbia for a rematch with No. 19 Arkansas on Feb. 4.
