Searching for another win over South Carolina

COLUMBIA, Mo (KMIZ)

A win on Saturday would not be Eli Drinkwitz's first time defeating the South Carolina Gamecocks, in fact, it would be the second-straight year.

Just one year ago, Drinkwitz and Appalachian State took down South Carolina in a 20-15 victory.

However, Drinkwitz was not alone. Mizzou special teams coordinator Erik Link was also there for the upset.

"I guess just being familiar with the stadium and everything associated with that, where we're going to be, where we're going to warm up," Link said. "Just, probably more of the logistical side of things, more so than anything."

However, he said the 2020 rematch will be a much different story.

"When we played last year there was, you know, a full crowd and we won't have that this year," he said. "From an environment standpoint, it's probably apples and oranges, just because of the situation we are in, with COVID."
