MSHSAA cancels spring post-season sporting events

Andrew Kauffman

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Missouri State High School Activities Association canceled all spring sporting events through the post-season following Gov. Parson's decision to close all schools for the remainder of the school year due to COVID-19.

In the release, MSHSAA Executive Director Dr. Kerwin Urhahn said, "This decision is very difficult for all involved especially given the impact it will have on our students, parents, coaches, teachers and administration throughout the state. We thank all of the participants, the coaches/directors/advisors, the administrations, the parents and everyone else who has dedicated tremendous amounts of time, passion and effort to these events."

MSHSAA noted the decision will be difficult for high school seniors who miss out on their final seasons of their high school careers.

"To our senior participants - we thank you for everything you have done for your schools and communities and wish you the very best in your bright futures," Urhahn said.
