Mizzou women’s basketball loses road game to Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Despite another career day from Aijha Blackwell, the Mizzou women's basketball team lost to Alabama on the road, 73-61.

The Tigers are now 8-21 (5-11 SEC).

Freshman Aijha Blackwell had her fourth double-double in a row and her fifth in the last six games. Blackwell scored 23 points and had 11 rebounds and four assists. Blackwell is the first Mizzou freshman with three consecutive 20-point games since Julie Helm in 1996.

Amber Smith also scored 20 points for the Tigers. However, as a team, Mizzou shot just 20 percent from three and 35.6 percent from the field.

The Tigers return to the court for the SEC Tournament starting March 4th. Mizzou will be an 11 seed and play Ole Miss in the opening round.
