Two airlifted after Pettis County shooting; deputies search for juvenile suspect

A shooting late Friday night in Sedalia left two people injured, one critically, according to a post from Pettis County Sheriff Brad Anders.

Around 11:15 p.m., deputies responded to the 23000 block of Mather Road for a reported nuisance, the post says. A deputy was reportedly speaking with the property owner when gunshots were heard from another area of the property. This made bystanders flee.

Additional forged nursing credential cases being investigated by Missouri officials

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ) Missouri officials say they are investigating multiple cases involving alleged fake nursing credentials as authorities warn the issue is becoming more common nationwide. A spokesperson for the Missouri Attorney General’s Office told ABC 17 News the agency is currently investigating another nursing credentials case in addition to the one filed this week

Jackson County judge’s ruling strikes down several abortion restrictions in state

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ) Several of Missouri’s abortion restrictions were shut down in a Thursday ruling in Jackson County. Judge Jerri Zhang’s 20-page ruling struck down a number of restrictions that were in place that were determined to be in violation of 2024’s Amendment 3, a voter-approved measure that enshrined abortion rights within the Missouri Constitution.
