COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Outgoing state Rep. Cheri Toalson Reisch (R-Hallsville) was fined $100 by the Missouri Ethics Commission last week over yard signs that were used during her bid for northern district commissioner.

Toalson Reisch ran an unsuccessful bid this past fall against incumbent Boone County Northern District Commissioner Janet Thompson. Toalson Reisch served in the Missouri House for eight years and was unable to run for her seat again because of term limits.

The MEC fined Toalson Reisch and her campaign on Thursday, Dec. 26, claiming that yard signs purchased from Victory Story on Aug. 27 did not have a “paid for by” disclosure printed on them.

Another outgoing state representative, Doug Mann (D-Columbia) had filed an MEC complaint against Toalson Reisch in September over the issue. Mann wrote in a Sept. 23 press release “that a sign posted on the corner of Business Loop and Rangeline in Columbia promotes Ms. Reisch’s campaign but fails to include the ‘paid for’ language required under Missouri law,” previous reporting indicates.

Toalson Reisch had said at the time that a “clerical error” led to the issue.
