Protesters gather in the Missouri Capitol to rally for social justice issues during a special legislative session Thursday, Aug. 6, 2020.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Dozens of protesters rallied inside and outside the Missouri Capitol on Thursday as senators continued work on a crime bill pushed by Gov. Mike Parson.

Parson called a special session to create legislation to fight violent crime. Critics called for a broader session which might include issues such as police reform but Parson rebuffed them.

Protesters were at the Capitol on Thursday to push for work on social issues instead of violent crime. Several people taking part in a protest against the special session last week were arrested and charged, as well.
