Prominent PACs endorse Fourth Congressional District candidates

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Prominent Missouri political organizations are throwing their support behind candidates in the Republican race for the Fourth Congressional District.

The Missouri Right to Life political action committee endorsed state Sen. Rick Brattin on Friday at a Columbia event. The organization says he is the best candidate because of his anti-abortion views. Abortion is expected to factor as a major issue in elections this year, with a Supreme Court decision that is expected to overturn rulings on abortion rights expected any time.

The Missouri Farm Bureau’s political action committee endorsed Kalena Bruce on Monday. She is a CPA and farmer from Stockton. She also has Gov. Mike Parson’s endorsement.

Seven Republicans are seeking the Fourth District seat being left vacated by Vicky Hartzler, including former Boone County clerk Taylor Burks. The primary election is in August.

The sprawling Fourth District includes Columbia and other parts of Mid-Missouri and spreads to western and southwestern parts of the state.

Hartzler is vacating the seat to seek the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate.
