Multiple fires reported across Mid-Missouri due to an elevated fire danger
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
For the second day in a row, the central and eastern regions of Missouri saw an elevated fire danger causing a busy day for local fire departments.
In Boone County, there were at least five calls to service for outside or structure fires.
A fire on Route E was confirmed as a controlled burn that got out of control and a fire on New Haven Road burned 20 acres of land.
Elevated fire danger means that a fire can easily spread if a fire does start.
People will need to use caution during the elevated fire danger time frame from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.
The low humidity, dry fuel and wind will cause a fire to have unpredictable fire behavior.
Both Boone County Fire Protection District and NWS St. Louis tell people to consider burning on a different day if they can.
Both fires did not have any injuries and were quickly under control.
