Weather Alert Day: Heavy rain and isolated severe storms Tuesday

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with showers moving in late. Embedded thunderstorms possible. Lows in the low 70s.

TOMORROW: Heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms. 2-4" of rain is possible through Tuesday night. A few storms may become severe with gusty winds, small hail, and isolated tornadoes possible. Highs in the low to mid-80s.

EXTENDED: The remnants of Tropical Depression Cristobal continue to slide across Mid-Missouri Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night, leaving us with quite a bit of rainfall. There will be two favorable areas for severe weather on Tuesday; the first associated with what's left of Cristobal across eastern MO, and then with a cold front cutting across the state Tuesday afternoon and evening. Both features could bring the threat of isolated severe storms. Once the system exits northeast into Wednesday, a few lingering showers will be possible along with much cooler temperatures in the afternoon. Highs stay in the low 70s. The rest of the week is looking quiet with a cooler air mass in place, keeping highs in the upper 70s to around 80 degrees with lower humidity.
