ROCHEPORT, Mo. (KMIZ)

The last steel girder was placed on the Rocheport bridge on Wednesday, according to a Thursday press release from the Missouri Department of Transportation.

Crews are in the home stretch of the project and will be able to place cross frames and wind bracing before preparing to pour the new bridge deck, the release says.

Construction has been ongoing for the past three years, with the old bridge being demolished in September 2023. The new westbound bridge was completed in July 2023 and has used east-and westbound traffic.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at the end of the year when the eastbound bridge is ready to be opened for traffic.
