Ramp from Missouri Boulevard to east Highway 54 closed in Jefferson City

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The ramp from Missouri Boulevard in Jefferson City to eastbound Highway 54 will be closed until mid-October, a Thursday press release from the Missouri Department of Transportation says.

Work on the Highway 54 overpass started last month and lane reductions have occurred as a result.

“With the current traffic patterns for the rehabilitation of the overpasses over Route 50 and McCarty Street, there have been some concerns with ramp traffic merging with Route 54 traffic,” engineer Chris Brownell said in the press release. “We tried to leave it open for the convenience of the daily commuters, but we have had several concerns from citizens about the merge point. We added extra signs and after closely monitoring it, have decided it’s best to close the ramp for everyone’s safety.”

The release says that drivers should use northbound Highway 50/63 (Whitton Expressway) to get to eastbound Highway 54 during the ramp closure.
