MoDOT to consider removing of I-70 Business Loop exit ramp

MGN Online

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Missouri Department of Transportation wants to hear from the public about the possible removal of the Interstate 70 westbound exit ramp at Business Loop 70 along with the 64-year old bridge.

MoDOT says the bridge is near the end of its service life. The left-side exit ramp is contrary to driver expectations. Studies indicate crashes may be reduced by as much as 25 to 70 percent with the use of right-side ramps over left-side ramps.

The project would also include the construction of a deceleration lane for the westbound I-70 exit ramp at Rangeline street.

Officials say this would decrease congestion in the area.

Online public comment is open through Sep. 24th on MoDOT's website.
