Three recent graduates among four killed in Vernon County crash

Four people were killed in a crash Friday night near Nevada, including three recent graduates of a high school in Camden County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report states 10 people were involved in the two-car crash on at 8 p.m. Friday on Highway 54, about two miles south of Walker.
Climax Springs R-4 School District identified three of the women killed in the crash as Ava Wolfe, Jayden Butterfield and Violet Corado; all recent graduates.
"Last evening, after attending an away basketball game, three recent Climax Springs graduates were involved in a fatal motor vehicle accident," the post states.
The district said Wolfe and Butterfield were also employees along with recent graduates.
The crash report states a 49-year-old man from Camdenton was driving a 2025 Toyota Corolla when he failed to stop at a stop sign and was hit by a 2015 GMC Terran.
Troopers said the Corolla then went off the side of the road before hitting a fence and tree.
The driver and a 38-year-old woman from Camdenton were seriously injured.
The 38-year-old man driving the Terran was also killed in the crash while four other people in the truck were hurt. A 39-year-old woman was flown by helicopter with serious injuries, an 18-year-old woman and two 16-year-old girls were taken to a hospital in Nevada with moderate and minor injuries.
Both cars were totaled according to the crash report.
According to Troopers, only four people were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, including the 19-year-old woman killed. The three others were hurt with injuries ranging from serious to minor.
The district announced it will have counselors available for students and staff on Monday and Tuesday.
