COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A 26-year-old Vicksburg, Mississippi, man was seriously injured Thursday in a crash in Pulaski County, according to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The report says the man was driving a 2018 Kenworth when while heading eastbound on Interstate 44 near mile marker 145. The Kenworth was going to the exit ramp while a 2021 Kenworth – driven by a 26-year-old man from Shaw, Mississippi -- was parked on the shoulder.

The report says the man on the 2018 Kenworth jumped from his vehicle and hit the road. That vehicle then went off the ride side of the road, hit the 2021 Kenworth, went down an embankment and struck several trees, the report says.

The man who jumped was flown to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Neither driver was using a safety device and both vehicle had extensive damage, the report says.
