Jefferson City man flown to Columbia hospital after motorcycle crash

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City man was seriously hurt after a motorcycle crash on Sunday evening.

According to the Jefferson City Police Department, officers were called to a crash at 7:34 p.m. on Sunday in the 2900 block of E McCarty Street.

Investigators learned Lucas Abbett, 30, of Jefferson City, had exited Highway 50/63 westbound at E McCarty Street on a 2018 Honda CB300F motorcycle when he crashed after entering the roundabout.

Police said he lost control causing the motorcycle to skid before going off the right side of the road and hitting a concrete raised island. The crash report said Abbett was thrown from the motorcycle.

Abbett was flown to a Columbia hospital with serious injuries, according to police. JCPD crash report said he is stable but will receive ongoing medical care.

Police said Abbett was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
