COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia police are investigating a crash that killed a person on a bicycle Wednesday, according to a press release from the Columbia Police Department.

The release states that around 3:30 p.m., a 2019 GMC truck -- that was traveling north on Highway 63 and went onto northbound Route B -- hit a Columbia man on a bicycle, Jimmy Dye.

Dye was brought to an area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, the release states. He was 64.

The release says alcohol and drugs are not suspected factors in the accident.
