Owensville man dies after a boating incident on Gasconade River on Saturday night

OWENSVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is reporting a fatal boat crash on the Gasconade River on Saturday night, 5.2 miles down the river from the US 50 bridge.

According to the crash report, Melvin Gibson was driving a 1988 Shoal Runner and was blinded by the setting sun and hit a tree in the water. The was pronounced dead on the scene by an Osage County coroner.

This is Troop F's first boating fatality for July and this year.
