Two dead after crash on Highway 50 in Moniteau County

MONITEAU COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Two people are dead after a crash on Highway 50 in Moniteau County according to MoDOT workers at the site of the wreck.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the crash just after 8:30 p.m.

MoDOT workers told ABC 17 News crews at the scene, that the crash happened around 7 p.m. on Monday.

Troopers say the crash happened five miles west of California. MoDOT crews had the area of Highway 50 around Springer Hill Rd. blocked off for hours.

On Monday night, Corporal Kyle Green told ABC 17 News the crash was serious, but Highway Patrol won't publicly announced a fatal crash until the next of kin is notified out of respect to the family.

According to the MoDOT Traveler's Map, the area of the accident was cleared by 12:45 a.m. on Tuesday.

ABC 17 News has reached out to the Moniteau County Sheriff's Office and Troop F for more information.

As of 8:10 a.m. on Tuesday, a crash report was not posted on the Highway Patrol's crash report website.
