COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has identified a driver hurt in a head-on crash on Wednesday morning.

The crash happened just after 8:15 a.m. on Interstate 70 Drive NW near Cynthia Drive, according to the crash report. Troopers said Kenneth N. Hall, 26, of Steedman, Missouri, lost control of a dump truck.

The highway patrol reported Hall hit an SUV driven by Ashley N. Abernathy, 34, of Columbia, head-on after he overcorrected and crossed the centerline of the road.

Troopers said Abernathy was taken by ambulance to University Hospital with serious injuries. MU Health Care told ABC 17 News on Thursday morning that Abernathy is in critical condition.

Three passengers in the SUV, a 5-year-old girl, an 8-year-old boy and a 9-year-old boy, were also taken to the hospital with serious injuries, according to the highway patrol.

Troopers said Abernathy and the children weren't wearing seat belts.

Hall wasn't hurt in the crash.
