MORGAN COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A crash in Morgan County left three people injured Wednesday shortly after 5 p.m.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report said the vehicles were traveling on Highway 5 near the Route TT North junction when a Kia Optima slowed down and stopped to make a left turn. A pickup truck behind the Kia failed to stop and hit the car.

Troopers said the Kia then began skidding and sliding and went off the right side of the road. The pickup kept going then went off the left side of the road.  One of the vehicles ended up in a ditch and struck several small trees.

The two people in the Kia, 20-year-old Candace Shultz and a minor, both had serious injuries and were taken to Lake Regional Hospital.

The driver of the pickup, 75-year-old Doris Busen, also had serious injuries and was transported to Lake Regional.

The crash report said Shultz was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
