Troopers respond to multiple wrecks this evening

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Ice is to blame for at least one crash on Highway 63 this afternoon according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report shows an SUV slid on an ice-covered bridge near Silver Fork Creek around 3:30 this afternoon.

Troopers say it went across the median and into oncoming traffic where it was struck by a box truck.

The truck then went off the right side of the road and hit a guard rail.

Troopers say both drivers suffered minor injuries.

That was just one of several crashes troopers responded to in mid-Missouri.

As of 4:30 this afternoon, troopers had worked a total of 19 crashes.

Meanwhile, the Boone County Emergency Management Agency reported a total of 13 crashes around the same time.
