Highway 54 bridge rehab project to move into final phase

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The final phase of a bridge rehabilitation project on the Highway 54 overpasses over Highway 50 and McCarty Street in Jefferson City will begin this month, according to a Thursday press release from the Missouri Department of Transportation.

Both directions of traffic are using the eastbound lanes while work is done in the westbound lanes of the bridge. On Monday, Sept. 16 crews will switch traffic to the westbound lanes so work can be done on the eastbound overpass lanes, the statement says.

According to the release, three ramps will be closed:

  • Eastbound Highway 54 ramp to Highway 50.
    • Alternate route: Take the eastbound Highway 54 ramp to Business 50 (Missouri Boulevard), then east to Highway 50.
  • Missouri Boulevard ramp to eastbound Highway 54.
    • Alternate route: Continue on Missouri Boulevard to westbound Highway 50 then use the ramp onto eastbound Highway 54.
  • Westbound Highway 54 to West Main Street.
    • Alternate route: Use the westbound Highway 54 ramp onto McCarty Street.
