Truss of Rocheport Bridge to be blasted off Sept. 10
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A portion of Interstate 70 is scheduled to close Sunday, Sept. 10 so a demolition team can blast off a truss of the old Missouri River Bridge at Rocheport, according to a Tuesday press release from the Missouri Department of Transportation.
The interstate in both directions will be closed, as well as a perimeter around the area, including a portion of the Katy Trail. The closure will start at 7:30 a.m. and will last about an hour, according to the release.
Once the area is secured, the demolition team will use a controlled explosion to drop the old truss into the river.
Crews will inspect the bridge and make sure debris is cleared before reopening the road.
