Road reopened after house fire on Worley Street in Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A house fire in central Columbia caused West Worley Street to be closed for about an hour Monday morning.

An ABC 17 News reporter saw five Columbia Fire Department firetrucks and an MU Health Care ambulance at a home in the 1400 block of W Worley St.

According to Cpt. Wayne Cummings with the Columbia Fire Department, firefighters were called to the home at 1415 W. Worley around 4:20 a.m. and saw heavy smoke coming from the attic. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the attic, and it was out within 10 minutes.

Cummings says no injuries were reported.

A Boone County Joint Communications alert sent at 4:30 a.m. states, "1400-blk of W Worley Street closed due to fire incident. Choose an alternate route."

An ABC 17 News reporter saw cars driving through the closed portion of Worley St. at around 5:15 a.m.
