Callaway County Sheriff’s Office identifies suspect allegedly involved in stolen vehicle pursuit
CALLAWAY COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Callaway County Sheriff's Office identified the man allegedly involved in a vehicle pursuit Saturday.
According to a Sunday press release, deputies identified Dillion Johnson, 33, of Jefferson City as the driver of the stolen vehicle. A felony no bond warrant has been issued for his arrest.
The Callaway County Sheriff's Office said Saturday they were looking for armed people near the 7700 block of State Road O.
Sunday's release states deputies reviewed license plate camera data and surveillance video along the path of the stolen vehicle from Saturday. Surveillance footage from the Millersburg Short Stop in Fulton shows the confirmed stolen white Chevrolet Suburban stop at the gas station, the post says.
Two people then exited the vehicle and purchased items from the gas station.
Deputies arrested the passenger of the vehicle at a residence in Fulton Sunday afternoon, according to the post.
The original post states the incident started when deputies began pursuing a stolen vehicle with a stolen gun inside. The vehicle went into a field and through the trees, causing deputies to temporarily lose sight of it.
"At approximately 9:05 PM last night (Saturday), a report came in of a male walking near County Road 419 and State Road AD," the post says.
They later located the vehicle and started a K-9 track. A pistol magazine was found along the track.
A post from a little before 9 p.m. Saturday states deputies transitioned to foot patrol in the areas of County Rd. 428, State Rd. CC and State Rd. O.
Residents were urged to remain alert and report any suspicious activity to the department. Residents are also asked to lock and remove the keys from their vehicles and farm equipment.
An aircraft with the Missouri State Highway Patrol and a Callaway County Sheriff's Department drone were used to search the area early Saturday.
