COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Habitat for Humanity will be hosting a realtor build event that will help families in need for affordable housing Wednesday.

The event will be at noon at the Habitat for Humanity construction site in the Boone Prairie Subdivision off Brown Station Road. The event will focus on working on the interiors of five homes with 50 realtor offering their services in helping support local families in need of affordable housing.

Habitat for Humanity began building these five homes in June 2024 and is being funded by ARPA. The $6.5 million ARPA fund was approved by the Boone County Commissioners and a large portion of the money was given towards affordable housing projects.

Habitat for Humanity received $560,000 for the builds.

After the builds are complete, five families will be able to buy these homes at an affordable price. These families help with the build and receive homeowner education through the Habitat for humanity program.
