Abortion rights groups set to hold rally in Capitol Rotunda Wednesday

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
Several abortion rights groups will be holding a rally inside the the Capitol Rotunda in Jefferson City Wednesday.
At 11:30 a.m., Abortion Action Missouri, ACLU of Missouri, Action St. Louis, Planned Parenthood Great Plains Votes, Planned Parenthood Great Rivers Action, PROMO, and Missourians from across the state will gather in the First Floor Capitol Rotunda to "take action for reproductive freedom and defend our Amendment 3 win," according to a press release.
In December, a Jackson County judge blocked the state's near total abortion ban. Judge Jerri Zhang ruled temporary blocks of several state laws regulating the procedure. That includes Missouri's law banning abortions except for a medical emergency.
Planned Parenthood sued the state shortly after voters approved Amendment 3 in November, enshrining reproductive rights in the state's constitution. It called for the judge to block multiple laws and rules around abortion. The agency said it hoped to start performing abortions again at several clinics in the state, including its Columbia clinic.
The judge set another hearing for Feb. 27.
