Two seriously injured in Cole County crash Sunday morning

Two people were seriously hurt after a crash in Cole County at around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The report states that a 37-year-old man from Jefferson City was driving a 2020 Lincoln Nautilus with a 27-year-old woman from Montgomery City. They were heading south on Tanner Bridge Rd. when the car went off the right side of the road over a retaining wall and hit a tree.

Both the driver and passenger were flown to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries.

The car was totaled. The report states both people were not wearing seatbelts.

According to a social media post from Cole County EMS, Cole County first responders, resources from the Osage Fire Protection District and Cole County EMS were alerted to an accident in the 4000 block of Tanner Bridge Road at 12:24 a.m.

Deputies from the Cole County Sheriff's Office arrived on scene first, where they found a small SUV that had traveled through the backyard of a residence and hit multiple trees.

An EMS chief officer on scene located two victims trapped in the vehicle with life-threatening injuries.

EMS helicopters from MU Air Medical Services and Mercy Life Line Air Medical Service were added to the call due to the extent of their injuries, the post states.

The victims were extricated from the vehicle by fire department personnel.

Both people were flown to University Hospital in critical condition, according to the post.

A total of 20 EMS and fire personnel responded to the scene.
