Fire reignites at south Columbia home Thursday morning
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A house fire that broke out Wednesday morning in south Columbia reignited less than 24 hours later.
Firefighters with the Columbia Fire Department were back on scene around 2:30 Thursday morning on the 4400 block of Glen Eagle Drive.
CFD left the scene just before 4:30 a.m. and the fire marshal will remain on scene until the sun comes up to investigate.
ABC 17 News crews arrived on scene around 3 a.m. to see smoke billowing from the two-story home.
CFD first responded to the home just before 6:30 Wednesday morning and when crews arrived they found flames coming from the roof of the home.
Chief Brian Schaeffer later said one firefighter was evaluated for injuries but was cleared to return to duty Wednesday. Seven companies with 21 firefighters responded, CFD said in a news release.
No one was home at the time of the fire Wednesday morning, but there were dogs in the backyard that were not injured, Katherine Rodriguez, spokesperson for CFD said.
Firefighters were still at the scene monitoring for hot spots Wednesday afternoon, according to the department.
Fire marshals are investigating the cause.
