Tracking snow causing travel impacts Saturday morning
TONIGHT: I'm tracking a gradual increase in cloud cover with temperatures dropping into the mid 20s by the end of the night. Winds will be out of the north at 3-6 mph.
TOMORROW: An ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day is in effect for snow starting at 6-7 am for areas along I-70 that begin to cause impacts by the early afternoon. In areas like Brunswick, Moberly, and further south in areas close to the Lake of the Ozarks, 1-2" of snow can be expected as the system exits the area. Along I-70, in areas like Columbia, Fulton, and Montgomery City, a heavier band of snow is expected, leading to the potential of 2-3" of snow by the early afternoon hours. Temperatures will only reach into the mid 30s by the afternoon due to cloud cover and snow. EXTENDED: I'm tracking a freeze Saturday night due to snowmelt and temperatures dropping into the upper teens by Sunday morning. After this, dry and sunny weather is expected, but temperatures will still be well below average for the first part of next week (low to mid 30s each afternoon). Temperatures will then rebound by Wednesday afternoon, warming up into the low 50s, before cooler weather makes another return by the end of the week.
