Columbia man charged with first-degree murder to face a judge Monday

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia man charged with first-degree murder will face a judge at the Boone County Courthouse at 9 a.m. Monday.

Deazes Turner, 22, is charged with first-degree murder, three counts of armed criminal action and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon after a superseding indictment was filed Friday. Turner is one of seven men accused of killing Deshon Houston, 33, in a shooting on Dove Drive in June 2023.

Alqueze Jones, Deljuan Turner and Demarkus Williams who are accused in the shooting also saw their charges upgraded to first-degree murder. Jujuan Crocket and Ja'Shaun Barney already have charges of first-degree murder.

That makes six of the seven shooters accused in the Dove Drive shooting now have charges of first-degree murder.

Bryton Allen, who was also charged in the shooting, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in June.
