Columbia Police Respond to assault and shots heard call on Forum Boulevard Saturday

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Columbia Police Department responded to reports of an assault and shots heard in South Columbia on Saturday morning.

According to a release from the Columbia Police Department officers were called to the 3900 block of Forum Boulevard around 10 a.m.

ABC 17 News saw the Columbia Police Department were seen investigating near Forum Christian Church at around 10:30 a.m.

Sgt. Ryan Brunstrom told ABC 17 News at the scene they responded after getting reports of people hearing gunshots in the area.

According to the release, two men got into an argument and one assaulted the other. He was reported to have non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect left before police arrived.

Gunfire was heard, but no injuries from gunfire were reported, the release states.

Evidence showed this was a targeted incident, and the department is working to find and arrest the suspect.

ABC 17 News crews at the scene saw around five Columbia Police Department cruisers and two K-9 units. Officers were seen observing something in the grass after the K-9 alerted them to it.
