Man in custody after hour-long standoff in Moberly

A man is in custody after an hour-long standoff in Moberly on Thursday.

On Sept. 20 Moberly police were made aware of a possible kidnapping and assault at a home on Rollins St. The victim was rescued by the Moberly Police Department Sweat Team and the North Missouri Drug Task Force, MPD said in a press release.

After investigating, police issued a warrant for Vaughn Woods, 38, of Moberly. He was charged with first-degree kidnapping, first-degree assault and illegal gun possession. A warrant He is being held at the Randolph County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

Thursday, police found Woods at a home in the 800 block of Union Avenue, where Woods was in an hour-long standoff with the Moberly Swat Team and other law enforcement agencies.

Woods was later taken into custody without incident, police said.
