CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The man charged in a crash that killed an Osage Beach police officer will be making another appearance in court Wednesday morning.

Christopher Wehmeyer, 23, will be in court at the Camden County Courthouse at 9 a.m. for a bond review as he is currently being held without bond. Camden County Prosecutor Richelle Grosvenor filed a motion on Tuesday to charge Christopher Aaron Bishop Wehmeyer with second-degree murder. He is currently charged with aggravated fleeing from a traffic stop resulting in death.

Last month, Officer Phylicia Carson died after she lost control of her vehicle while chasing Wehmeyer on Aug. 31. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wehmeyer allegedly told investigators that he was racing and chose not to stop when he saw police lights. The case reached over 100 mph as it went through Camden County.

He is already facing a potential life sentence under the new Valentines Law that went into effect days before the crash.
