Police direct traffic at Fulton apartment fire

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Police had to direct traffic and control a crowd at the scene of an apartment fire Thursday in Fulton.

The call came in at about 9 a.m. in the 1300 block of Westview Drive. Firefighters found a three-story, multi-family building with smoke showing on the third floor, according to a Fulton Fire Department news release.

The fire was noticed by a contractor who was working outside the building and heard smoke alarms, the department says.

Crews found fire in the kitchen of an apartment and had it under control in about 35 minutes, the release says. Damage was an estimated $60,0000.

Fire investigators determined the blaze was accidental, the release says. Everyone in the apartment building got out without being injured.
