A Kirksville man who plead guilty in connection to a deadly shooting in Columbia in 2022 is set to be sentence at the Boone County Courthouse at 1 p.m. Friday.

Joshua Dudley, 24, was involved in a shooting death of Shavez Waage at the Moser's parking lot on Keen Street in 2022. Dudley was originally charged with second-degree murder but that charge was downgraded when he plead guilty to involuntary manslaughter and first-degree attempted robbery.

Investigators were able to use surveillance video to track down the vehicle Dudley and Loyal Martell, 23, were in. Court documents say Dudley and Martell met Waage in the Moser's parking lot with plans of robbing him, Dudley told police that Martell was the shooter.

Martell plead guilty to second-degree murder back in 2022 and in exchange for the plea, prosecutors dropped three felony charges. Martell was sentence to 20 years in prison in August.
