SEDALIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Missouri State Fair in Sedalia is set to open at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday and will run through Aug. 18.

Safety has been a top priority on the fair grounds, as all rides have been inspected and have passed those inspections, according to the ride inspection reports ABC 17 News obtained.

To add another layer of precaution, qualified managers, inspectors and ride operators inspect the equipment everyday before opening the fair ground.

A third layer of safety, the insurance company of a ride share company for the fair hires an independent safety consultant to inspect all the rides each year.

According to the ride share company for the fair, experts estimate that approximately 80% of the incidents that do occur are the result of patron error. Rocking ride seats, taking your hands out of the car or throwing objects out of the car are all examples of behavior that can result in an injury.
