Storm damage, power outages reported throughout Mid-Missouri

Several Mid-Missouri counties experienced damage as storms moved through Thursday night.

Sedalia Fire Chief Matthew Irwin said the fire department started getting calls around 7 p.m. The department responded to 18 calls in 90 minutes. The calls included trees into homes, power lines down and lightning strikes. He said that there were no injuries reported.

Moniteau County Sheriff Tony Wheatley said in an email around 10:15 p.m. that there were reports of limbs down on some highways around California and utility poles and lines down inside city limits.

According to Otterville Fire Protection District Fire Chief Mark Blankenship, there were limbs down throughout the district, but no large reported or visible damage.

Several counties were also experiencing sizable power outages, with Saline County having 919 outages for Central Missouri Electric Cooperative customers at its peak at 9:10 p.m., according to the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives outage map.

There were 663 outages in Saline County at 9:20 p.m.

There were 177 outages reported for CMEC customers in Pettis County, while there were 165 Co-Mo Electric Cooperative in Cooper County and 97 outages for Co-Mo customers in Morgan County. Moniteau County had 11 outages for Co-Mo customers.

There were 141 outages reported in Miller County at 9:15 p.m.

Mike Sutherland with the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives said in an email that crews responded to multiple outages, particularly in west and central Pettis and southwest Saline Counties.
