Sheriff: Plane makes emergency landing in Randolph County field
MOBERLY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A small plane made an emergency landing just east of Renick, Missouri, on Wednesday afternoon, according to Randolph County Sheriff Aaron Wilson.
Wilson told ABC 17 News in a text message that the pilot was not hurt and that deputies took the pilot to a hotel in Columbia. Wilson said the plane had to make an emergency landing in a farmer’s field after a bird hit a window, causing the window to shatter. The pilot apparently had blood on him, but Wilson said the blood was from the bird.
According to data from Flight Radar 24 and Flight Aware, the plane had departed from an airport in Decatur, Illinois, at 2:27 p.m. and was last seen near Moberly around 4:35 p.m. Wilson stated the emergency landing occurred at 5:30 p.m. Wilson stated the intended destination was at a Kansas City airport. He also said the plane did not make an emergency landing at Omar Bradley Regional Airport in Moberly because it was closed.
Data from Flight Aware indicates that earlier in the day, the plane made traveled from Warren County, Ohio, to Decatur; from Zanesville, Ohio, to Warren County; Allegheny County Regional Airport in Pittsburgh to Zanesville.
Earlier this week, a 58-year-old Arkansas man died Tuesday after a plane crashed in southern Boone County.
