Firefighter injured at one of three house fires Saturday

Firefighters put out three house fires on Saturday, and one firefighter was injured while responding. The first fire happened just before 1 p.m. in the 6400 block of Cobble Creek Drive. ABC 17 News has reached out to the department for more information.
The second occurred on the 2500 Block of Ridgefield Road.
Columbia Fire Department received a call about a house fire at 2514 Ridgefield Road at 3:52 p.m. and arrived on the scene within six minutes. When they got there firefighters found a "light fire" on the left side of the house near a power meter and smoke coming from the basement.
"We were able to quickly pull the siding off the side of the house, expose the area where the fire was, get it extinguished very quickly," Captain Ryan Adam of the Columbia Fire Department said. "It was out in just a few minutes. I'd say five minutes."
Adams tells ABC 17 that no one was in the house when the fire started. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
"The fire marshal will find that out. It appears to be started around the power meter," Adams said.

About an hour later, Columbia Fire responded to another house fire at 2405 Rose Drive. Neighbors tell ABC 17 that two kids and a dog were in the house when the fire appeared to start in the garage but safely escaped.
Although no injuries were reported from the residents of the houses, one firefighter was hurt while using a ladder. Assistant Fire Chief Jerry Jenkins said he is awake and being treated at the hospital.
"It's been a busy day for us," Jenkins said. "This is our third fire for the day, a second extensive fire that we've had. Our crews are doing well, obviously, with the cold temperatures. It's very taxing on our personnel."
