Several Mid-Missouri counties to hold local elections Tuesday

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Several counties across Mid-Missouri are holding local elections Tuesday. Polls open at 6 a.m. and will close at 7 p.m.

Audrain, Chariton, Miller and Osage County are asking community members to head to the polls to decide on several items including sales taxes and emergency management districts among other items.

Chariton County Voters will decide on the Proposition 1.

Proposition 1 says if approved the Public Water Supply District No. 2 of Chariton County will sell its assets to Missouri-American Water Company and thereafter be dissolved as provided by the law.

Miller County residents have two propositions to decide on Tuesday, Proposition A and Proposition B.

Proposition A states that if approved the City of Eldon will impose a local use tax to be used to fund public safety improvements at the same rate as the total local sales tax rate. The current rate is 2.4% provided that if the local sales tax rate is reduced or raised by voter approval, the local use tax rate shall also be reduced or raised by the same action.

Proposition B would see a 3% sales tax added on all retail sales of adult-use marijuana sold in the City of Eldon.

Osage County voters will decide whether or not the portion of Osage County not presently included in the Osage Ambulance District by annexed to the Osage Ambulance District.

In Audrain County, voters will vote on its Public Water Supply No. 1 consolidation. ABC 17 News is working to get a copy of the county's sample ballot.
