Storms leave hundreds without power Tuesday night

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Hundreds of people throughout mid-Missouri continue to deal with power outages after severe storms swept through the area Tuesday night.

Multiple counties like Camden, Morgan, Miller and Benton are still awaiting power restoration after storms ran through the area from about 10PM to midnight.

Camden County is currently seeing about 20 outages and Benton County has around 16 confirmed outages.

Right now, Miller County has about 10 outages and Morgan County's outage number has gone down to 6.

The numbers above are significantly smaller than they were at around 5AM Wednesday morning. Earlier, numbers in counties like Miller and Morgan were in the one hundreds and even four hundreds for outages.

During the storms peak, there were over 5,700 outages reported.

While outages are a main concern for many, there is also the potential for fallen trees and power lines blocking roadways.

Various counties sheriffs departments, fire departments and emergency management teams posted on their social media pages warning citizens of the storm and the damage it left behind.

Lake Ozark Fire Protection District posted on Facebook last night asking citizens to stay off the roads if possible due to fallen trees and power lines, which are very dangerous.

Three Rivers Electric also shared a message over social media saying crews are working on restoring power.

It is unclear when all power will be restored to the affected areas.
