Traffic impacts expected for Mizzou football home opener

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Thursday is the University of Missouri's home opening football game. With thousands of fans expected to attend, traffic impacts and delays can be expected throughout the game.

The increase in crowds and number of people heading towards and around the stadium has caused some changes to traffic flow.

According to the most recently updated map from the universities website, multiple road closures will be put into effect due to the opening game.

Research Park Drive will have closings stretching from lot R to Lot Y.

Mick Deaver Drive, located next to the stadium will be closed from lot J to lot K.

If you are a pass holder for lots B or J, the university is asking you to enter through the Mick Deaver Drive and Stadium Boulevard intersection.

According to a statement on the map, traffic leaving the stadium will only be able to make right hand turns until a traffic officer gives directions to do otherwise.

The university also states that while traffic patterns may seem inconvenient, it is more efficient and safer.

The university has also provided maps on parking information, shuttle routes, and public parking.

Free parking will be available in parking garages downtown and one on Hitt Street. General public parking will cost $35.
