Catholic Charities finds temporary location after flooding over Christmas
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Catholic Charities of Central and Northern Missouri has found a temporary hub for operations with the help of City of Refuge.
The charity will move into its temporary office space on Monday. The building -- located next to City of Refuge at 2 E. Walnut Street in Columbia -- will be the administrative location for the Catholic Charities Refugee Services program.
Catholic Charities had to close its office on East Brown School Road last week after the building sustained water damage after a pipe burst. The charity last week said repairs could take several weeks, and the build is not safe to access.
“When Catholic Charities called with the news of their dilemma, we were grateful that we could help,” City of Refuge Executive Director Debbie Beal said in a press release. “The timing is perfect – the portion of our facility that faces East Walnut Street will eventually become our preschool, but for now it is the ideal space for Catholic Charities to serve clients who both our organizations care so much about serving well.”
Both organizations share the goal of helping refugees.
Catholic Charities also has offices in Sedalia and Jefferson City. The group said it will keep the public updated with its social media pages and website as restoration gets underway.
