Two charged after shots fired during December party at Bur Oak Brewery

Two men have been charged in relation to a shots-fired call on Dec. 4 at a fraternity party at Bur Oak Brewery.
James Allen, 22, of Jefferson City, and his twin brother Jerald Allen, of Warrensburg, were each charged Thursday with unlawful use of a weapon. A $10,000 bond is set for both men. Neither are in custody.
Boone County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the brewery before 1 a.m. Dec. 4 for a shots-fired call. Deputies found a shell casing and two holes in the ceiling, according to a probable cause statement. Witnesses told deputies they heard two gunshots.
A deputy looked at security video from the business which showed a man in an orange sweatshirt enter a large crowd when a fight breaks out. The man can be seen when the crowd disperses in a panic, according to the statement. He was seen running toward an exit while placing – what the probable cause statement says is – a gun in his pocket.
Another probable cause statement says shortly after, there is a man in a white hat and black shirt running towards the exit. That man appears to point his right arm towards the ceiling and can be seen putting something into the front of his pants.
On Dec. 5, a witness told the Sheriff’s Office that he had a video of the shooting and photos of the alleged suspect, James Allen. A photo of James viewed by the deputy showed he appeared to be the same person wearing the orange sweatshirt who shot the gun, according to the statement.
The man with the white hat was identified as Jerald Allen. He was contacted by deputies on Dec. 4 on the property and was arrested on an accusation of trespassing. He was allegedly wearing the same clothes.
Jerald Allen is charged with first-degree trespassing and a case review for that charge is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31. An arraignment hearing was held Dec. 29 at the Boone County Courthouse.
