Missouri contractor pleads guilty to stealing $25,000 or more

An area contractor pleaded guilty on Monday to several charges involving deceptive business practices.
Blake Mahoney pleaded guilty to stealing $25,000 or more and several counts of passing a bad check. He pleaded guilty to nine charges over four cases, according to Casenet.
His sentencing hearing will be 9 a.m. Monday, Feb. 6, 2023, at the Boone County Courthouse.
A disposition hearing for charges including financial exploitation of an elderly/disabled person and deceptive business practices is scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday, Dec. 5 at the Audrain County Courthouse.
Mahoney was arrested and charged in Boone County in January with four felony counts of financial exploitation of an elderly or disabled person, according to public court records. Mahoney was also charged with seven felony counts of deceptive business practice.
Public court records show the alleged crimes happened between August 2018- March 2021.
Mahoney operated Mo State Construction LLC, according to the Better Business Bureau. A spokeswoman said at the time that several Columbia-area customers reported issues with the business, including failing to start or finish projects. The Better Business Bureau issued a consumer warning about doing business with Mahoney in February 2021.
Mahoney is also on trial for fourth-degree domestic assault and endangering the welfare of a child. The next hearing in that case is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Boone County Courthouse.
