Family of 22-year-old Andrew Moss speaks out about their loss

Andrew B. Moss, 22, of Hallsville died early Monday morning when he was electrocuted by a downed power line.

Moss passed away when he got out of his vehicle at about 1:30 a.m. along South River Road, according to the Boone County Sheriff's Office.

Kayla Moss, Andrew's little sister, recalls the moment she heard about her brother's passing.

"My dad, he was sobbing. My mom. She called me right after, she was sobbing, and as soon as I heard the news, my heart just dropped," Kayla said.

One of Kayla's favorite memories of Andrew was when they were in High School.

"He was a senior at the time," Kayla said. "He would blare his music super, super loud to get everyone's attention. I hopped in the car and all my friends were staring at me like, who is he? Oh my gosh, what? What just happened?"

Kayla said all of her friends used to go crazy for Andrew.

Andrew had a love for cars, video games and taking care of others, according to Moss.

"It was always video games, or car games, or anything with cars," Kayla said. "He had four or five boxes filled with collectible cars."

Andrew used to drive his friends around once he got to high school, and Kayla said, "his teachers loved him."

Andrew was a Battle High School alumni, Moss said his former teachers have shared support during this time.

"The old Principal of Battle High School, she has donated, and a lot more teacher's have donated to my GoFundMe," Kayla said.

This has been a hard time for the Moss family. Andrew's father, David Moss, is battling liver cancer, and his Mother, Jeanna Moss, is deaf. Funeral arrangements have been left to 18-year-old Kayla, who had to take some time off from her college studies to plan the funeral.

Moss has created a GoFundMe page to help cover the funeral expenses.

"So, we want to raise $20,000. That's for his casket, his burial site, everything like that." Kayla said this has been both a financial and emotional time for the family, "you know, $20,000 is you know, not pocket change. It's just so devastating."

The page has raised $3,505 in three days. Kayla said, "We really want to bury him peacefully, and with your help, you guys can help make this happen."
